Western Sicily May 2019 Day 1

Upon setting foot in Italy, the dream was real.  The sun, food, and scenery impacted us immensely.  We knew we were getting into something even better than what we bargained for.

As we drove through the beautiful Sicilian countryside we finally reached our first destination, the Hotel Pigna D’Oro.  Its’ location, vistas, food, and friendly staff left an immediate impression on us.  We were beginning to realize the magic that surrounded us.

We took some time to rest after lunch before heading out the Theater of Andromeda.  A modern wonder of art infused with ancient wisdom and knowledge.  Words are difficult to use when trying to describe this mystical space.  I strongly recommend a visit so you can experience it with an open mind.   I will say that it rubbed off some of its magic on us and set the tone for what will be nothing short of a life changing tour.

After dinner we got to our rooms to rest from a voyage of little sleep and lots of excitement.

The dream is now.

the pine cone is a traditional symbol of wisdom and open hearted receptivity in Sicilian culture

posing for a group shot around a magical stone

a group of strangers quickly became friends

Some had gnocchi and some had pasta for our first meal together

the auspicious number 108 is the number of stars in Andromeda’s constellation as well as the seats in an identically laid out pattern in the theater

the full moon awaited us upon our return

this piece I know nothing about, but it gave out an eerie feeling

the cantaloupe got the most attention at dinner, rightfully so

poetry.
