Western Sicily May 2019 Day 6

This mornings cappuccino and ricotta filled brioche was just the beginning of what was to be an amazing day.  Like the Italians say, “a good day you can see from the morning”.  You could feel the excitement in our van build as we approached the port of Trapani to sail out to the Egadi Islands.

We enjoyed amazing views of the Islands as we sailed across the crystal clear waters bordering them.  As we anchored by the Island of Levanzo we enjoyed a fresh cup glass of sangria while learning about its’ history.  We then proceeded to the island of Favignana and stopped for a fresh served lunch prepared and served on board.  Their  specialty tuna over pasta with mint and tomatoes accompanied by some fine white wine completed the opera.

Next, we docked at the port and had a couple hours to explore the island.  To my surprise, I ended up translating and announcing the islands historical and cultural content aboard a sightseeing train.  I had a lot of fun and I’m looking forward to doing that again for our next tour.  Before we hopped back on the boat I had to relax for a minute to enjoy an amazing chocolate/pistachio granita.

When we got back to San Vito Lo Capo we took a stroll out into town on a what turned out to be a lovely evening.  Our dinner was fantastic and we enjoyed eating outside while taking in the local atmosphere.
